As a retired Military Officer and seasoned professional in private industry, his unique experiences have made him a welcome addition to the Patriot Energy Group family. He is a retired Special Forces Battalion Commander whose troops infiltrated Northern Afghanistan shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the US. The nature of this formerly classified military mission required three of his teams do something that the American military had not done since the last century: ride horses into combat.
Max carried a piece of the World Trade Center with him throughout the entire campaign in Northern Afghanistan. After the Taliban was defeated in the North, the Special Forces teams who liberated Mazar e-Sharif memorialized and buried the burned and bent piece of steel in a former Al Qaida stronghold to commemorate the firefighters, police and first responders of New York City and Washington DC who perished on September the 11th in the line of duty.
The men who carried the fight to the enemy on horseback were the inspiration for a 3-ton, 18-foot-tall bronze monument erected across from the World Trade Center site. The statue was dedicated to the entire U.S. Special Operations Community by Vice President Joe Biden and a piece of steel from the World Trade Center is embedded in its base, which reads “America’s Response Monument.”
